Kaisen — sushi that comes around.
Kaisen is a small room on South Bristol with a real conveyor belt running the length of the counter. No chain-store playbook — a chef behind the counter, a QR code and a paper slip at your seat, and plates priced by the color they arrive on.

The room
Cozy on purpose.
Dark wood booths, a black ceiling, a stainless belt and a row of orange paper lanterns down the middle of the room. It seats a few dozen people, which is why there is a wait on a Friday night and why the fish moves fast enough to stay fresh. Regulars sit at the counter and order the moment they sit down.
The name printed on those lanterns is Kaisen — fresh from the sea, coming around. It is on the front windows too, beside the brushstroke logo.
Only on the blackboard out front
Happy hour, two for one.
Monday to Friday, 2:00 to 5:00 PM — two-for-one hot sake and Kirin Ichiban draft. Dining room only; the belt does not serve beer. A 16 oz draft is $4.50 and the 60 oz pitcher is $15.
You will not find this on the delivery apps or the aggregator listings. It is chalked on the board by the door, and now it is here.

What we care about
Fresh fish, fair plates.
The three things people mention most in reviews, and the three things we will not cut corners on.
Cut to order
The belt is the appetizer; what you order is the meal. Scan the QR code, write a slip or just tell us — it is cut fresh behind the counter.
Priced by plate
Six colors on the belt, $2.00 to $5.25, and everything else priced item by item. A light lunch stays light, and a blowout with toro and uni is still an honest number on the same bill.
A neighborhood room
South Coast Metro locals, free parking out front, and a counter where the chef remembers what you ordered last time.
